Gerbils are omnivorous rodents.
Their domestic diet consists of Fortified Foods, also known as pellets or feeds, specifically developed for them, containing 18-22% protein. Although they are very fond of sunflower seeds, it is good not to supply them often to avoid problems of excess fat in the blood. Small amounts of fresh vegetables, fruits, and insects or larvae (such as mealworms) complete their diet. Always provide clean water. Hay is part of the habitat of their den.
