Toys and Accessories - Degu
The Degu is a rodent native to Latin America, and is a so-called restrict herbivore.
Its diet in nature is based on the consumption of fresh grass, buds and shoots, bark, bulbs and, sometimes, seeds and fruit. In its domestic form, the main food is hay and fresh vegetables, washed and well dried. The hay also favors the abrasion of the teeth, which never stop growing in these little furry ones. There are Fortified Foods, also known as pellets or feeds, to be supplied in limited quantities, specific for Degu but the same ones used for Rabbits or Guinea pigs can be supplied, as long as they are high in fiber. Fruit is very welcome, but should be given in small doses, as an occasional treat. Always provide clean water. It is important for their health to provide them with large trays and specific sand for cleaning and caring for their fur.
Absolutely to avoid carbohydrates.
